Since I think the two party system is basically corrupt, I think the major difference we will see is that now the Democrats will take more heat because they have more power. And in the bi-partisan spirit I will make the following predictions....
1. Pelosi will stay with the same plastic surgeon, she looks great for a gal her age.
2. George and Nancy probably spoke about that on the phone in their first real converstaion, not about interior decorators as George said.
He is really starting to show his age.
3.Mark Foley will get out of rehab and turn over a new page ( pun intended).
4. Donald Rumsfeld will become the highest paid lobbyist in Washington.And he won't be lobbying for farm subsidies either:-)
Apart from those, I doubt that a lot will change.

This is what will be attempted. We will see how much is vetoed by Bush, against whom we don't have a veto proof majority in the senate.
1. We will involve our allies in discussions over Iraq; a plan for withdrawal will be put in place.
2. The Bush tax cuts will be rolled back.
3. We will attempt to tame the 800 lbs gorilla that is health care:
a) Negotiate lower rates for prescription drugs for Medicaid
b) Add more people to some form of subsidized health plan (MN Care style)
4. An increase in the Federal Minimum Wage and linkage with inflation
5. Lowering the interest charged on student loans
6. Making higher education a priority by funding our state universities
7. Pump money into stem cell research
8. Make moving American jobs overseas less attractive by new tax legislation
9. Dealing with immigration issues in a humane and just fashion
10. Engaging the rest of the world

No need to predict this one, it was mentioned earlier today on 4.. El Presidente~ is coming to Michigan to meet with the big 3 auto dealers shortly, which he completely refused to do before this occured.

How many of you realize that the federal government takes more from us in taxes than an attorney takes on a lawsuit? My taxes allways go up when the Democrats are in power.
Canada is looking better every day.

If taxes are a problem you're in for a shock when you land in Canada. They have a higher tax load than we do. In fact you will find that the rest of the industrialized world has a higher tax load than we do.

The other industrialized nations are not carrying a burden of untaxed 'displaced' persons and upper income loopholes. I don't mind paying high taxes. I do mind with the fervancy of my nations founders shouldering the burden of a rich man because he won't pay his fair share.
I sometimes wonder if it isn't time for another Boston Tea Party.

That is one reason Costa Rica is popular.
Large middle class for latin america and taxes that are amazingly low.
health care that is so cheap you don't need insurance and weather that beats most the industrialized world hands down.
Although when Bush was so unpopular we mostly had leftists moving here, now I bet that things will change. Lots of inquiries from right wingers in the last day or two:-)

I want to see an investigation into why the Bush administration said it was certain that there were WMDs in Iraq when there were none. That is what convinced congress to give him the authority to start this disasterous war. I think some people should go to prison.

I've always said I would be at the front of the line when the revolution begins.
I for one would like to see more funding for the homeless. The programs have been cut to less than the bare bones. The shelters are closing down fast and the numbers are staggering. If we could just restore 25% of the funds it would go a long ways.

I am hoping that Democrats and Republicans alike will now work together instead of having hissy fits at the publics expense.
Stop talking words and do things that are in the peoples best interest. Not the best interest of the special interests groups.
