Most of us do not consider ourselves morally superior, simply lucky to live in the country we do. Our leadership may have problems, show me a country that doesn't, but we still have choices about how we live our lives and who we have to represent us. The sad part is how few people know anything at all about the persons they vote for. If more people would inform themselves, and not rely on the major media or the activists or fundamentalists to tell them who to vote for, there would be more accountability in leadership.
Back to the OP, I will always support our military men and women. Without them we would be living in the same squalor as a lot of the rest of the world. Without might there can be no peace.
1) But your logic is severely flawed. You are making no sense. You are saying that it happens all the time in third world countries, but people never hear of it - how do you know this? if you never hear of it, how do you know it happens all the time there? You;re just assuming it happens there. Have you ever actually been outside of America and to a third world country? Have you experienced first hand what happens there? I doubt it.
2) But you do not have the choice of how you live your life. Americans don't even have the most basic freedom that any person can have - the freedom not to be brainwashed. Most Americans I have come across have such limited source of information, they are little better than brainwashed.
3) A lot of the people in the rest of the world may not have the riches that Americans have, but a lot of them are able to appreciate the finer things in life. Just because they live in shanty towns does not mean their life is less fruitful than yours.
