Cristina, our society has indeed changed over many generations and we no longer hold dear the things we did, one of them namely.... people!! We have evolved a "throw-away, disposable" culture.
If you think back to , let's say, medieval times..... people were born, lived and died in the same small village. Money was scarce and the community depended upon each other. The butcher may have supplied meat to the farrier who could shoe his horse. The farmer could provide for the carpenter in return for him having a new door..... we all relied upon one another. Its what, effectively, was team-work, community spirit.
That is not so now, we are all independent to the point of being autonomous even. People move far and wide now and don't often get to know their neighbours, we are miles from family. We can just go to a supermarket and buy our provisions, we don't need the "local community".... we all just become a face in a crowd!!
Its not just you..... its all of us!! Sad really??
