sorry, you may not like this opinion but...

french or no french he is the dad and desreves to see his kids as much as mom does.

now, if the homework issue is a concern later he will have to pay for a tutor to come in a few times a week to help with the homework issue.
I think you mighta taken me the wrong way when I called the other guy a moron- I think his statement about me thinking about me was moronic...
I think your opinion is yours to have...and I appreciate it. I think its really about the kids- what's best for them. It is THEIR right to see either of us, not our right to see them...that's what the courts say.

This is a curious thread to me because I was in the same situation only I was the "Ex". My son was going to a french school (his mom is french) and I was still able to help him with most of his homework. Therefore from my point of view, it's a non issue. However, My boy was content in his home, had friends in the neighbourhood, had his own room and he was fine. His mom is a good mother and even asked me to see him more than every second weekend because he missed me so I picked him up every Wednesday night for dinner and I also coached his little league baseball team. There is no prefect solution other than mom and dad staying together and I hope your ex can see the possible disruption in his kids' lives. He sees them often now. From my view I hope he doesn't do anything that will make the kids not want to see him at all. Then the kids lose their dad and they need him. A song from Kris Kristofferson comes to mind. A couple of lines from "Daddy's Song" When he takes his daughter home she says "I wish that we lived together again. It gets so lonesome apart. I'm missing somebody all of the time. Daddy, it's breaking my heart."
Let's try to remember who is the innocent party that hurts the most.
most appreciated response Captain- "Let's try to remember who is the innocent party that hurts the most." It IS all about the kids for me...and if he wants to spend extra time with them, that's fine- but I'm not going to give in on the custody arrangement.

Sure he is the guy she loved once but i think it is curious that all of a sudden he is after more time with the kids but the other son he has he couldn't care less about.
I think some of the comments here are right on the money.
1. There is another reason why he is after more time/shared time and i think the people here are right in saying it is a money issue!
2. If he does not care for the French education and gets pissed off at the teacher does not take part in any of the school activities then why bother? I don't think it is that healthy for the kids to see the father go off on a teacher.
3. The education for the kids is their future. If they are doing good in school now what is going to happen if he takes care of them one week and then they are back with their mom the next? In the week with the father they surely will fall behind with their work or get into trouble for forgetting or not doing homework because the father was not able to help. Consequently the grades will drop and the reportcard will look accordingly. The next week when their home again with mom they have to work double as hard to make up for what they missed.
4. It is also curious that he is ONLY communicating over e mail. That means he is after something cause a person who has no ulterior motive will talk face to face or on the phone. So there is a reason behind all of this. And i strongly believe that it is money!

Bailey listen! I am not to sure how far you have come with the discussion and your Ex and if the subject has dropped or if he is still pursuing it. I can just give you advice which is the same others have given you! Go and get some legal advice. Leave the arrangement the way it is cause it is the best for the kids! I have a feeling he is just trying to get a rise out of you and thought this way he could safe some money in support payments. And if you have a new boyfriend well there is the other reason why he wants to get to you! He does not like it!
Good luck and stay strong don't let him get to you!!
Thanks for your response- I appreciate the feedback- and as far as I can see, you're right, he's after something, although he hasn't come out & said what it is. Since this all started, he hasn't mentionned it in a few weeks.

seems like you only think about yourself....so what he needs to be a part time father,..good for the kids and you...he is still the father of the kids...
I am sure your next boyfriend would be given the job as like a "full time father" but then..he might ask for custody of your kids...
yarie,yara...The kids are still better off seeing their real dad no matter what,b/c it's still family and he is the man you have loved once!
Good luck for all !
You don't know me- and frankly from this single post, you're a moron!
My children DO see their dad- probably more than most men see theirs- I'm VERY flexible when it comes to them spending time with their father. When it comes down to who's house they live in, I think they need this little thing called stability. BTW- thanks for your opinion, everyone's entitled to one, even if they are moronic...

Well, there's still a TON of packing to do- but we got the house yesterday and it is FABULOUS! We're so excited, I actually considered (for a moment...) packing all day today so that we could be there sooner! lmao
"unfortunately" my son's hockey playoffs are going to get in the way of that packing dream though...

As far as fairies that shouldn't be a problem there's lots out there.
Thanks for the good wishes everyone...
and if you're interested in helpin, feel free to let me know! lol we're moving easter weekend- I'll be sure to cook up a realllllly good meal and I'm sure I'll have plenty of drinks available too!

I think part of the issue is that there is just SO much stuff- my house was pretty much empty until a year ago, when my mom moved in, she had enough stuff to fill this place to capacity. Then Joel moved in, mind you he didn't have much stuff to bring...but now its just soooo overwhelming!

aaaahhh...

Sigh, is this everrrrrrrr gonna end?

Wonder if the fairies will pack while I'm sleeping, you know like the shoemaker who got all the shoes made while he was sleeping???

hey, who wants to go for a pint? cheers

Geez, as excited as I am about moving to the new house, I HATE packing! This part sucks! I can totally picture us living in the new house, but I've yet to actually envision the packing & moving & unpacking part! damn, does anyone else hate packing?

she just does not feel secure yet with him.
I think she is being very open with him.
As he said, it is the on line thing, not in person with people.
maybe, she is sitting right there with him and he goes on line????
well if she isn't secure with him "YET" she shouldn't have said yes to his marriage proposal!
