Hugz_n_Kissez: No that's not true...it's the fact that the injustices have never gone away that's the problem...education etc is not a reperation...it's part of treaty agreements for land....so is medicine and the right to gamble...sure it's a business opportunity and a good one...but these decisions are ones that should left up to the Native communities themselves...not allowed by anyone.....the years in residential schools...the families that were harmed...the abuse that occurred....the kids that were lost....the assimilation process maybe history to those who didn't live it...but we still live it every day...it's not old and it's not dragging up....it's reality of generations of dysfunction and abuse....those things can never be reparated.....there isn't enough money in existence.....I speak from experience...my grandfather attended one of those schools and the result was just what described....and I lived with that all my life because of it...so it's not just the people who attend that suffer...it's every generation after....that's what people don't get and what they fail to understand...your history is our reality today.....and it hasn't gone away for us...and maybe it never will.....money is small in comparison.....not to mention...we still don't manage our own natural resources on our own territories...nor do we get any profits from them...if this took place communities probably wouldn't have to resort to things like gambling....they would have their own natural resources to sustain their own communities....and land bases are no where near what the original treaties granted....because much of it was sold off illegally....hence the reason for land claims today...So nobody's asking for a handout...only what is originally ours to begin with....the lands struck in the original treaty agreements...the natural resources located on those lands...and anything else that stems from government original agreements....we don't want to be taken care of...we want to be able to take care of ourselves and our communities....just like any other community....but we haven't got back or regained the proper resources to do so...yet.....

Well, what about the African American, they also have a claim. They were a big contributor in making the USA what it is today. They feel they should be paid back as well. Don't forget the Chinese.
