gentlepaws: We share the same cultural foods, our life-styles are similar. Any ideas ?

Far more Americans than Canadians have forgotten that the hole up front is considerably larger than the hole in back.professor

dcj22: I know! What the hell is wrong with these people?

Hey Dana,

It's my opinion (as a semi-professional smart ass) that they're all insecure and neurotic and just wondering how many people agree that they're insecure and neurotic.laugh

I think I'm pretty much the same - Guess you'd have to ask Jackson to know for sure.

Seems like I think a little more before making replies online than when having a regular conversation, but I suppose that's due to the nature of the medium. Of course, I don't worry about spelling and punctuation as much when I'm talking as I do when I'm typing, but I guess that's also a given.

And I guess I'm probably a little funnier in real life - Kinda' tough to tell stories/jokes using different voices/impersonations when you're typing text into a computer screen;
Kermit the frog's voice: And I heard him tell the Warden, just before he reached my pad... "Let my guitar playin' frog do my request."
Just doesn't read as funny as it sounds...

Mostly though, I'm JustMe. I use what tools I have available in whatever medium I'm communicating in and my personality remains the same, even if certain aspects come through a little more (or less) strongly.

gentlepaws: Mad at what ? Name it.....the universe is expanding, I don't like that. It's minus 8C degrees and 2 more months of winter to go. I can no longer afford Jarlsberg cheese. I am suffering from cosmic boredom. The condition of mankind and our home planet continues to deteriorate, this is very annoying.

Now, how am I not going to take it anymore ? I don't have a clue. So I will rely on the collective wisdom of all CS'ers.

I ask that you don't suggest; get a hobby, find love, throw stones at passing aircraft, try to teach my cat to respond to his name. And no, I don't need a new drug, I've tried them all.

Thanks in advance, Paws.

Here's a thought: Become pro-active. Walk the walk. Get out and do something about the things you're always complaining about.

Drink less wine and instead figure out how to distill your own pure water.

Do more research on the myth of global warming and less finger pointing at those you think caused it.

Spend some time outside and enjoy the cold air. Think about those times you complained because it was too hot.

Start planning your spring garden. Not enough room for a garden? Do some research on "hanging gardens" and start gathering the materials you need. It's not a hobby, but it could become a way of life.

Wash the cat. (That'll be enough to occupy you for 3 or 4 days if it's done right!)

Ya' know what I do when I'm bored, Leo? I sit on my butt and complain about being bored. It's when I get off my butt and do something that life regains some purpose and direction.

Good luck! handshake

Best of luck to you. handshake

I met the wonderful lady who become my wife right here on CS two years ago today, so I know for a fact it's possible.

BTW, I deliver in Mosheim every now and then, either at East Tennessee Forest Products or Appalachian Forest Products. Maybe we'll have to grab a cup of coffee sometime?

Bananarama: The man who sent the email was clearly ordering.....I didn't give you all the email and I won't because it's private. He had a good grasp of English and he knew what he was saying He seems to think he can tell woman what to do.

I believe it's a cultural thing...

You know, there is a feature that allows you to block mail from specific areas. For instance, I no longer recieve 10-15 e-mails per week from the Philipines.

Luck to you! handshake

DoznEggs: Thanks!

Well I think I better say

And I'll leave you and all these other new friends with one more question......

How do you double quote in a reply? I've seen it done where two different people were quoted, but I am clueless as to how it's done.

Thank you all!

hopefloats: I was wandering the same thing..........

Easy! Just format what you want to show as a quote with:

[ quote= whomever you want to quote ] then add the text and "close" the the quote with [ / quote ]

(I put spaces in to show you the characters.) When you do it right, it comes out like this:
whomeveryouwantoquote: then add the text and "close" the the quote with

Hope that helps. thumbs up

kissmedeeply: hello

Yes i would and did..

I lived in Canada my husband in North Carolina..

Met here in Nov of 2007..

got married in oct 27 of this year..

Distance sure sucks..and alot of work to get there..

but being alone for the rest of my life would suck even
more if i didnt take this chance

Howdy! Yep, I would and did, too.

I was a trucker from the high plains of Northwest Kansas, my wife lived on a pretty ridge above Bull Run Creek in East Tennessee. We met here on CS exactly two years ago tomorrow and were married on August 15, '07.

I miss my friends "up-home" but wouldn't give up our little corner of paradise for anything in the world. She is my everything and whatever difficulties I faced to get here were worth it X 10. 2 thumbs up

Lucidfjb: Morning, doll, you're either up late or very early.
31 years with the same company - that's impressive.
For me, it's been customer service most of my work life. At the moment, a CS Manager for a small manufacturing company. That will be ending soon as the company has been sold and will be moving out of state in the not too distant future. Happy New Year to me on the unemployment line.

Knew a lady who spent 38 years as a tenured English Professor. When her husband passed away, she left the college and went to truck driving school. 10 years later, she's quite happy and still making good money and wondering why she sat behind a desk all those years.

Just a thought.(We can always use more good drivers!) handshake

I'm a 3rd class citizen. (That's John Q. Public's perception of a truck driver.) I've also been called a "Professional Tourist" and a "Trans-regional goods & commodities relocation technician." (I've also been called a few less flattering things, but they all mean that I'm just a truck driver.)laugh
