| | Get a Doggone Haircut Posted: Dec 28, 2006, 12:34 PM CST | Well thats a different story then..Bust his ass !! No need for you to have to watch his every move especially in the shower..Start playin hard ball, no computer, no friends, no skating, nothin til the crap changes...Damn am I mean??
Im blessed with 3 of mine being girls and they are overly clean showering 2 times a day at least most of the time Im running thru the house coughin because of 3 different kinds of perfume 4 if you include mine My youngest son whos 11 knows if he smells bad his sisters will spray his ass and make him smell like a girl so hes all about Axe ..
Good luck its tough to have to be a Dad instead of a friend..Went thru that with my daughter whos 16 today..Finally had to literally use the whole "tough love" thing on her..worked like a charm got her back where she needs to be..
Good luck darlin!

In response to:Nope, his hygiene is horrible. I have to tell him to take a bath every single day,...just like he's two years old. Have to make sure he's wearing deodorant and actually washing in the shower. I buy him heavily scented body wash...ala...Axe or Old Spice...so I know if he's bathing. I buy him new clothes...and he wants the stuff already ripped and looking dirty. Bought him new "skate" shoes...and he would rather wear his friends old ripped up sh*t than the new stuff...Makes me want to strangle him. He'll go stay at his friends house...play paintball, whatever, and come home smelling like ass. Then, poppa of all the poppas....they have a white microsuede recliner in their room...and he'll plop his nasty behind down on that and grab the computer.......auuuggghhhhh..... quoted message

| | Get a Doggone Haircut Posted: Dec 28, 2006, 1:42 PM CST | When I was growing up I was given the choice between a flat top and a crew cut. In the sixth grade in Red Bay, Alabama our school had been burnt down the year before. The teacher in front of the whole class told me that the class had bought me a bar of soap. Talk about embarrassing, geez. But after that I bathed daily in the white basin that we had. We didn't have a bath tub. Later dad and I installed indoor plumbing so that we could have running water. I can remember how nice it was to have hot water and not to have to freeze in the spring water.

| | Get a Doggone Haircut Posted: Feb 8, 2007, 9:28 AM CST | Give him a minute to figure out his style....at that age it is all about experimenting in this fat ole world. The way he wears his hair does not reflect the boy you love...ignore it, my 12 year old just had his hair cut for the first time in three years, it was half way down his back, and is now above his collar, and it made no difference to the amazing young buck he is....his older brother also had long hair halfway down his back at 14, he's 21 now, and has a military cut.
If that is his only step into independence and individual style, at 14, then it's a lucky man you are.....

In response to:Kinda silly question...but...I have a 14 year old son that wants his hair long....I HATE IT....His hair is Uber Curly...and it just looks like sh*t....no two ways about it....He's going for the Skate Rat look. I want it cut..and I MEAN CUT....so he looks like a young man rather than some damn degenerate. His Mom says....Let him have his individuality...I'm trying, I really am...but it's just so hard to look at my kid and think he looks like a damn slob. What say ya'll? quoted message

| | Get a Doggone Haircut Posted: Feb 8, 2007, 9:38 AM CST | update.....
I took him to get a haircut this past weekend...I sought out a stylist that could do him some justice....
When we walked in...she asked him if he wanted the skater cut....that brought a smile to his face.....
she cut about two inches off his hair....thinned it out.....layered it....
it's still kinda shaggy and unkempt, but it looks MUCH better.....
So we both compromised a little.....worked out pretty good...
now there's these big ass "gauges" that he's trying to put in his ear.....augggghhhhh.....

| | Get a Doggone Haircut Posted: Feb 8, 2007, 10:32 AM CST | I am just wondering if there is nothing in the school dress codes in other states about how boys wear their hair and the piercings... Here in Texas at my boys school, they are very strict on that. They are not allowed to even have it a little over their ears or their collar or they are sending them home! Boys are not allowed to wear any jewelry in their piercings (nose, ears, lips, eyebrows, etc.) Girls can only wear earrings (one hole on each side). When my daughter was a senior, she had to remove her cartiledge piercing in her ear everyday and her second holes.

| | Get a Doggone Haircut Posted: Feb 8, 2007, 10:43 AM CST | I live in a very small town (700 people) and our school system is VERY STRICT on dress code. Some of it is almost silly! They are trying to pass the rule of school uniforms here! My oldest son is 16 and he prefers to wear his hair in a longer style (just past his collar and a little over his ears) He can't do that throughout the school year... so fortunately for me, I only have to put up with it in the summer months!
