The_Kansan wrote:I've mentioned this, more or less off-hand, a couple (ok about a hundred!) times lately, but here it is officially:
I'm going in, in a little less than 12 hours to get my darned ol' gallbladder yanked out so that I can finally (after 11 months!) start (and keep!) feeling better.
I'm not overly concerned - in fact, I'm looking forward to getting it over with - but several (wonderful, caring) members here have expressed concern and heartfelt well-wishes and I just wanted to take the time to say "Thank you, each and everyone, it really means quite a lot to me!"
I'd like to be nervous and I guess I probably should be and maybe I am just a little bit, but mostly I figure that it won't be a big deal and I'll be back on my feet in a day or two and back to work in about 3 weeks or a month.
In the mean time, you poor souls are liable to get awfully tired of me hanging around all the time.
So thanks again to everyone who's already wished me well and thanks in advance to anyone who bothers to respond to this. With friends and family like you guys, my convalescence should be an absolute breeze! (Not to mention a real hoot!)
...Don...
(A.K.A. The Kansan) I hope everything goes well, and wish you a quick recovery. Conrad

| | It's the Official "Kansan's Gettin' his Gallbladder Yanked in the Morning," Thread! Posted: Sep 29, 2008, 11:39 AM CST | Okay, I'm all done!
Kinda' sore and a bit dizzy(er), throat is really dry and sore, but I'm back to being vertical!
Thanks yet again to all my family and friends here on CS for all the prayers, healing thoughts and well wishes.
And a special thank you to God and CS for sending me the greatest, most special, tender, warm and loving woman a guy could ever hope to find! I love you, J, all ways, always! You are my dream come true and I owe you more than I could ever hope to re-pay! I love you, you make my heart smile!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had mine out 5 years ago. One piece of advice...eat yogurt or take acidopholus supplements afterward to avoid other digestive complications happening from the antibiotics they'll give you.

Posted: Sep 29, 2008, 5:22 PM CST | The prayers, virtual hugs, well-wishes, and good thoughts are SO VERY appreciated, folks--by both of us!! We know that all the support you good folks have given Don helped get rid of that darned old gall bladder in a safe and blessed way.
(And, thanks for the good and supportive words for me, but I'm just the wait-and-watch nurse, and Don makes my job easy!)
We love you all and will keep you posted with updates over the next few days. Just stay tuned!!
