If you guessed "trial lawyers" -- well, okay, that's too easy. But can you guess which special interest came in second? Labor unions? Nope. The Green Lobby? Nope. AARP? Wrong, again. NEA? Nyet.
Give up? Okay, here's the answer: Wall Street.
That's right. According to CNNMoney.com, Wall Street securities and investment firms have given over $35 million to Democratic candidates this election cycle. And the amount they've given to the Clinton and Obama campaigns is nearly five times the amount they've given to McCain. If you've been wondering why the financial industry has been in meltdown -- and taking your 401(k) or investment portfolio down with it -- now you know.
Let us imagine you are right about this Wish4........
Maybe these guys also know that the Bushney,s and McCain are terrible for the economy and because of that Fact they endorse Obama more than McCain!
Wall streeters are not the real reason of this depression in your country....... George W Bush and his men are the main reason and wall streeters.... just "went along" with the possibilities of Fraud caused by the Bushney,s in the last dark eight years in your country!
Now on days any body is trying to point at this guy or another to explain the reaosns of economichal melt down of the worlds earlier strongest economy but the main guilty is no body else than George W Bush and his "Economy is Stupied" administration, who gave a free ride to any cheater "milking" the nation so the nation would forget about the geneside they were a part of in Iraq and other countries as well!
when they Removed all regularities and decide the freemarked is the one and only way of running a country, then the ports of hell opened Because No body is that honest any way and responsible governments must do any thing they can to Control the marked so things does not get out of control......the Bushney,s and by that this McCain dude have failed this very important mission and what we see today was widely wanred about in the last many years and it happened even most people did not beleive in that!

Your last post absolutely strengthened your argument from a vantage point of speculation and perspective. However, the world was a different place during the Civil War as opposed to today. There are different things at stake, especially on a global level. So in my honest assessment, I really don't see any benefit of comparing 1865 to 2007. Those two wars are not even in the same ballpark. The whole core of this issue is justification. Of course using history as our guide can prove to be essential in order to see the big picture. I just think drawing parallels from the Civil War to the current war really does not put things in a tidy nutshell.
I can add in my 2 kronors and draw parallels from other imperialistic wars or endeavors to put things in the sexy clear. But I won't. I might be called anti America
Okay, I give up :waving whit flag: You guys are correct in everything you say. I will no longer oppose your viewpoints. I can't take on a certain demographic from the old school. I was born in 73 in California, and you people were born before 1970 and not in California. Too bad your demographic will be overwhelmed on election day
SF,
If I understand your pesrpective, then this war is the worst thing to happen in the history of the world, or at least in recent history. In 1864 or thereabouts the exact same thing could have been (and was) said about the civil war.
As to 'different things being at stake, especially on a global level' - Consider all the ramifications to European countries dependant upon the outcome of said war. Anyone who thinks that the American Civil war didn't affect the entire 'modern' world at the time needs to go back and do a little brushing up on their history. Had the CSA won and the South successfully seceded (try saying that 10 time fast) the world would be a completely different place than it is now.
In 1861 the whole core issue also was 'justification.' Some historians argue that Mr. Lincoln was justified and was trying only to preserve the union. Others, with some credibility I might add, claim that Lincoln was a warmonger who was only reaching for a 2nd term in the Whitehouse. By the same token, there are those who claim that Mr. Bush is justified in his actions and that - whatever the initial excuses - the fact that Hussein was 'captured and brought to justice' is enough by itself to excuse our being over there. Others see Mr. Bush only as a warmonger who started the war for his own selfish reasons. Personally, I don't happen to share either viewpoint 100 percent. Guess I've never really fit in anywhere...
As to 'putting things in a tidy nutshell' - I went squirrel hunting this morning up on the ridge and saw quite a few nutshells... None of them were tidy. Neither is this, but it gives me a way of wrapping my feeble old mind around it in such a way as to be able to understand how history works... And how presidencies are judged...
And if you have the specific historic knowledge of the "other imperialistic wars or endeavors" you allude to to "put things in the sexy clear" then by all means do so.
Lastly, you are correct - I was not born in California. My father and 4 older brothers were though. Unfortunately for us, you are correct again that we were all born before 1970. For that - and I speak on behalf of my father and brothers (who were all born within spitting dsitance of 'Frisco) - you have our sincere and humble apologies (we weren't given much choice in the matter).
