The only bearing Wizard of Oz has on my life at all is when I hear the phrase "When Monkeys fly out of my butt."

I have a hard time imagining real monkeys - I always think of the Wizard of Oz monkeys when someone says that phrase.

I used to like The Wizard of Oz when I was very little. But now I hate it because my cousin Kay would have to watch it repeatedly every single time she came to visit.... and she lived next door.

Coming from Kansas - and having traveled extensively - I used to absolutely detest the Wizard of Oz because it created a sterotypical problem that has lasted for YEARS, i.,e., tornados, "You're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy!" (something told to me by a Cop in Rhode Island), etc...

In the past few years, though, I've come to really appreciate and enjoy the lessons taught. And there are a few other things that makes it near and dear to me, but I won't go into them here.

Great movie; one of my top 3. Perhaps it should be my no. 1 (but "Gone With The Wind" holds that position). There are certainly analogies between lessons from The Wizard and my own life.

On CS, I met and married the ultimate tin man! He was even from Kansas!!! While the two of us had been given hearts by our Creator, those had been battered and bruised and were rusted from the acidity of others--at least until we met! It was in his love that I re-discovered my heart. He jump-started its beat and brought the added qualities of a magnificent brain, incredible bravery, and puppy-like sweetness to a life that had become resigned and stale.

Thanks for reminding me of these things, Lilly! Hope you have the same success here on CS that I did!
